The odd thing is that beyond a certain distance, something like 4,000 megaparsecs, objects are moving away from us so fast that their light cannot reach us; the expansion is faster than light at those distances. For an object further from us than this that object might as well be thought of as being in another universe because it will never be able to affect us in any way, and we could never see it.
