I was having a discussion with a co-worker today about galaxies. He thought there was 29 known galaxies. On his behalf he is in his late fiftys so he may not of read a news paper in the last ten years. But one would think after expanding his universe by 100 billion he would show a little more appreciation than to just say "really?" Question is, how many people do you think are just like him?

Hmm...pretty scary, but I have heard people say things like "Aren't there nine galaxies in our solar system?" and I have actually known people who thought a galaxy was bigger than the universe. Ah, well. A lot of people out there don't bother to research stuff. I'd say eight out of ten people would believe you if you told them there were 29 known galaxies in the universe.
