I've seen pros and cons about going to the moon then on to mars. Do y'all think its a good idea? Or is it just a ploy by bush to gain votes? Would the money be better spent on earthy projects? ....wait...wheres this money coming from?

I heard recently that someone who is currently in junior high or high school will be the first person to visit Mars.
I think that exploring other planets is necessary, but I don't see the importance in sending humans to these places. NASA has developed some unexpectedly reliable machines to do all their exploration. I don't know why it would be logical to send a human to do the same thing since it costs more and is potentially dangerous.
