motherfucker. That was supposed to be the poster for Beowulf. That image worked like 10 minutes ago.
But anyway, I really think Beowulf is the best action movie I have ever seen. I am basing that statement only on the actual action value of the movie, not the storyline or character development or anything, obviously. Seeing it in 3-D probably increased my appreciation for the movie quite a bit. I think when I was at the Mira Mesa theater they were showing it on an IMAX screen AND in 3-D? Or maybe that was just wishful thinking.
What do you think is the best action movie ever? And do you consider Saving Private Ryan an action movie? (Your answer to the first question will probably also answer the second question for me.)

Beowulf is worthy of that nod.
I don't consider Saving Private Ryan an action movie, but there are quite a few elements of action within it.
I would have to say The Bourne Ultimatum, as it made me just love car crashes - you know i hate those sequences too - so it won me over.
Black Hawk Down is a close second. Let's face it, the movie was not a thinking man's film. You have to love early convincing CGI scenes of military operations going badly (in particular, grandiose special effects of helicopter blades splintering into the hot soil). Totally cool.
