Nick Nolte would be perfect as a washed up collegic hockey player. Actually, he would be good as anything washed up. I also like Josh Brolin for any part, ever. Tim Robbins would be a constant in my films.
If I had a particular actor with whom I worked with a lot - such as Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock - I would probably go with Marion Cotillard.

You are so fickle! Any girl in any movie who is French or naked or a junkie instantly becomes your favorite actor. Whatever happened to your soulmate, Alec Baldwin?

I would cast Claire Danes and Clea DuVall in a movie that I probably wouldn't make until I was single and 45.
I would also cast Giovanni Ribisi because I think he is under-appreciated.
And someday, seriously, I am going to make a movie about two brothers who will be played by Bill Briggs (a guy from a lot of TV commercials) and Hank Harris (the guy from Pumpkin).
