First of all, the board is becoming active again, after about three years. So that is pretty exciting.
Also, the color scheme is different. Black and white looks fresher and cleaner, I think. Also in an attempt to make things look cleaner, I have taken down some of the extras that used to clutter the main page, such as the news fader and the miniature message board thing that was filled with spam.
I have also removed a lot of the old boards. This isn't because I thought the topics were bad or unworthy of being discussed. I just figured that there were too many options, so I removed the ones that seemed extraneous or unpopular. They are archived, though, just in case you were concerned about losing some ingenious thread you started.
Our new main topics (topics that I am pushing when I advertise the board) are movies, music, and fantasy football. I think the fantasy football board might become pretty popular if we attract the right people. I personally play fantasy football and feel that a forum which allows me to get advice on my team and discuss players and matchups with others who are knowledgable about the subject sounds very appealing and may help me better manage my roster.
The movies board now has a sub-board for reviews, as do the music and book boards. I am happy to say that one of the many side-jobs I currently have is reviewing films for a local newspaper (bobbyanalog also does this). Therefore, it will be pretty easy for me to post new reviews since I usually see at least one film a week and I am excited to read everyone else's reviews to hear their opinions. The movie review board is open to reviews of current or older movies.
The music board also has a sub-board for featured artists. The staff will be posting monthly features of musicians and bands that deserve your attention. The first featured artist post should be up in about a week.
Aside from some minor additions and alterations, our last big change relates to staffing. Since I am not sure who (if anyone) will return to The Treatment from the original group we had, I have designated bobbyanalog, my close, personal friend in real life, to be the new global moderator. I trust him and I know he is quick and creative and will greatly enhance our forum topics. Also, he knows a lot about movies and sports.
Currently, and probably for some time to come, The Treatment will be attempting to attract and retain new members so that our message board will grow and become an enriching and entertaining site to visit.
